Cracked Gutters

Gutters with cracks are about as pointless as a bucket with a hole on the bottom. Larger cracks are plainly visible on dry, clear days but smaller cracks may only reveal themselves in a storm. Size doesn’t matter because

cracks defeat the purpose of a drainage system and warrant serious appraisal and extensive cracking is a reason to consider replacement.

Stress in the Seams.

 Gutters are vulnerable at the seams where two horizontal sections meet where leaks and separations are common and both types of failure eventually leading to any number of undesirable outcomes, whether outside the home or indoors. Many people opt for seamless gutters to avoid this problem.

What Style of gutter do I need?

There are 2 styles of gutters, K-style and Half-rounds. K-style gutters have a higher water capacity, are flat on their bottoms and back, with the front usually being a decorative style – sometimes imitating molding to blend in with your roof.

On the less expensive side, Half-rounds are cheaper, and are mostly found nowadays on historical homes or on renovated older buildings and have lower water capacity compared with K-style gutters

Since gutters must be mounted, your contractor favors different types of hangings depending on the home in question. There are several methods and equipment, such as straps, brackets or hangers which your installation team may not be able to use and need to wait until your roof is replaced to hang them properly.
