Is it Time to Replace my homes Siding?
There are several indicators that it may be time to replace your siding. Here are a few!
- Vinyl siding itself doesn’t rot, however, the wood siding that lies beneath a lot of vinyl siding does, and once water seeps in under the siding, fungus can develop and cause dry rot–to both the wood and the siding covering it.
- Moisture in the vinyl siding of any underlying wood siding can also be manifested inside the house–which is a sure sign of a problem.
- Peeling interior paint can indicate that moisture has gotten into the plaster or drywall due to moisture under the vinyl siding. That moisture might lead to the formation of mold in the walls.
- If the siding is loose, cracked, warped or buckling, it may be time for replacement. Debris hitting the house from ice or lawnmower launches wreaks havoc on vinyl siding.
- Temperature changes and house settling can cause warping and buckling if it was installed to tightly.
- Small animals and insects can cause holes in the walls of your home as they seek inside shelter. There are various types of house eating insects including carpenter ants, carpenter bees, beetles and several species of termites.
The many benefits of Vinyl Siding.
Homeowners have the unique responsibility of knowing a bit about a lot of things and when considering new siding for your home, it can be difficult to know which type will best fit your needs. As there are advantages and disadvantages in all options, many homeowners agree that vinyl siding’s benefits far outweigh any negative aspects. Some of the significant benefits of vinyl siding may enhance your home and increase your return on investment.
No siding option can beat vinyl when it comes to durability. Vinyl is made to withstand wind, hail, and debris without cracking or breaking and is even resistant to moisture, making it hard to find rot on a home with vinyl siding. Vinyl siding is also resistant to rust and corrosion and can last upward of 50 years since it is a manmade material.
Vinyl provides very little upkeep as opposed to siding made of wood or metal. You may only have to wash it every year or so when the dirt and debris become apparent.
Many companies offer incredibly long warranties on their products because vinyl is so durable and long-lasting. While this may not cover anything in the event of a fire or accident, they’ll likely reimburse you if your vinyl dents, cracks, or otherwise breaks when it shouldn’t
Vinyl is a manmade product, and does not require deforestation or mining to manufacture it. Other kinds of siding may require precious natural resources, and since vinyl does not, it is less likely to end up in a landfill or need additional upkeep costs because it lasts so long. Vinyl is great for those who are environmentally conscious.
Vinyl is incredibly versatile and can be molde into nearly any shape or color imaginable, giving the consumer thousands of options. There are many different types of textures, such as wood grain and brick.
Vinyl siding offers what is called “thermal bridging” to a home, which means that it helps seal gaps that would normally exist between a home’s studs and the exterior siding. Your home will stay at a comfortable temperature year-round because it keeps more air in without losing heating or cooling.
Vinyl remains the most cost-effective option for siding because it is light and easy to install, so besides the many perks including low maintenance requirements and long life, you will save money on installation and materials.

I had damage to my roof and after a few quotes decided to go through Robin Hood. The work they did was fantastic. The only cost was my deductible for the work covered through insurance.
I was amazed by their work, so much so I even went through them to have new siding and gutters done. They did an amazing job, and even accommodated some last minute changes/requests. I had an issue where I broke a piece and worked with Nick to get it replaced. Highly Recommend. I couldn't be happier with the outside of my house now. I have unfortunately dealt with a few shady contractors and by no means did I have this experience with Robin Hood.

Highly recommend Robin Hood Restoration. First off, they have gone above and beyond in finding a certain color siding color for me. They have given me countless options for colors and styles. Communication has been excellent and they showed up the day they said they would. So far they have done my roof and I cannot be more pleased. From start to finish they had it done in a full day. The advised me about a leak that they saw while up on my roof and fixed it while they were up there. Their clean up was excellent. No nails or debris were found on my property at all. Definitely 5 stars.
